Algal screening results August 2010

This August 2010 screening data from two confirmed AVM sites is consistent with previous years. We documented that the hydrilla leaves have a high (5-90%) coverage by the new species of cyanobacteria Stigonematales species. Additional species (in red) growing on the hydrilla that can produce toxins include: Anabaena, Gloeotrichia, Lyngbya, Microcystis, Nostoc, Oscillatoria, and Pseudanabaena
