How do I subscribe to an RSS Feed on the Warnell website?

RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is a format for publishing frequently updated content on a web site , such as news posts or calendar entries. An RSS document is called a "feed" and contains a summary of the content and links to the website. Feeds sometimes contain audio content and are called "podcasts." By subscribing to a feed, users can keep up with updates to a web site without having to visit the site. Many parts of the Warnell website offer RSS feeds:
  • General, front page news stories
  • News and announcements for Warnell faculty, staff and students
  • Discussion board
  • Event listings in the Warnell calendar
To subscribe to a feed, just click on the icon RSS Feed iconnext to the requested item (or the "Get RSS Feed link" at the bottom of the calendar).
Most newer browsers include a built-in feed reader (Firefox, Internet Explorer 7, Safari and Opera), which will give you the option to subscribe to the feed. Once you have subscribed, your feed shows up in your bookmarks/favorites. If you are using Internet Explorer 6 or other browsers that do not have a built-in feed reader, you will need to download a separate application to read the feeds, called a feed aggregator or feed reader. These are the URLs for the Warnell feeds:
Wikipedia has a good list of RSS feed aggregators/readers and the How Stuff Works site has articles on How RSS Works.
